First Post

I'll be sending all of you emails making you aware of this blog. Hopefully, we can get some discussions going. We have eMINTS certified teachers already teaching, eMINTS student teachers, eMINTS students, and eMINTS faculty and trainers who will be participating.

I am "surviving" teaching kindergarten in Osage County. I gave up an eMINTS classroom to have an overhead and a chalkboard!! I sure do miss technology!!!! I can see myself in the future back in a eMINTS classroom. Trying to get lessons planned for the rest of the school year- baby is due April 2nd.

I have been placed with a really super cooperating teacher, Mrs. Schroeder, she has shown me quite a bit about the practical side of teaching. I can now see where the long nights are going to pay off. The technology in this class is near zero but still we work around it. I asked her about the possibility of a Smart Board and she said she was hoping for one in next year. This class is very small 14 students, but our room was a former speech room, so it was very crowded. I have been informed that we are moving today! I am to teach my first solo in this student teaching experience. Say hello to all of the newbies to eMINTS down there for me. Tell them not to be afraid and use the equipment over and over put themselves into it and they will really soar.
I had a great time learning from you, they will too.

Some of us have busy lives and can't just be walking around on a beach somewhere...I have been teaching 4th grade (in a non-eMints classroom) for two years. I do have and use daily/hourly a SmartBoard. I can definitely see myself in an eMints classroom in the future, but there are not many schools in Columbia that offer such a unique situation. Maybe someday I will get lucky!!!

I have been teaching 1st grade for the past 2 years. Jamestown does not have eMINTS classrooms, and I sure do miss all of the technology. I hope to be in an eMINTS room in the very near future.

  6. Hey Gals and Gents, I just started teaching in Fulton. I have what they call a 1/2 emints room. I only have 5 computers instead of a class set. I'm excited to have them though! The Smartboard is a blessing from heaven even if mine only works half the time! :)

This is my 2nd year teaching in a 4th grade classroom at Versailles. I do not have a full eMINTS classroom, but I do have a SmartBoard that I use everyday and 4 students computers. Versailles only has 3 full eMINTS classrooms and all classes 3rd-5th, have SmartBoards and 4 student computers. I'm enjoying teaching, but looking forward to going back to school to get a degree for Library Media Specialist.

  8. contained. I do have a SmartBoard in my classroom and I use it all the time. Our district is great about supporting teachers with technology. We have one day a quarter that we as teachers get to work on SmartBoard lessons. I'm next in line in my building to get an eMINTS classroom. We have two right now and one of the teachers has been looking for a principal position, so I have my fingers crossed.
